After two weeks and a half of worrying, Raegan came out of her coma. She was released two weeks later. The Raegan that everyone knew and loved was gone. Due to the brain trauma, Raegan had lost all visual ability. She didn’t take the life change well. That was to be expected. Even though the doctors reassured her that her vision could be restored, she emotionally disappeared. Her demeanor became cold and distant. Those closest to her were shut out and they helplessly watched her slip into a deep depression. She spent the majority of her days locked in her bedroom.

Dorian was sensitive to the fact that Reagan had gone through several changes both

mentally and physically but he was suffering too. He wanted to be intimate with his wife

but she wasn’t cooperating at all. It wasn’t all about sex to him. He missed the intimate conversations they would have. Moments in time that lasted for hours. They would get lost in each other and cuddle and kiss and chat until the sun came up.

His advances were dismissed as soon as they were made. The days of blissful mornings and passionate nights were now a distant memory.

Not in the mood for another disappointing evening, Dorian went down to the basement/den to have a drink and listen to some jazz. Cognac was his drink of choice. Pure White Hennessy to be exact. The liquor went down smooth and had him feeling nice. As he poured another glass, he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Raegan never came down to the “hole”, so he knew that it was Nadia.

‘You want a drink sis?” He said to her not even looking up.

“After the day I’ve had, I could use a few.” She said as she walked over to the bar.

The two of them had become like best friends since Nadia moved in. They had similar interests and the love that they both had for Reagan was the foundation to their friendship.

Dorian handed Nadia the glass of Hen and sat beside her on the Italian leather couch. He sat somewhat slouched with his head rested on the back of the sofa looking at the ceiling. Nadia could read him like a book and knew he had a lot on his mind.

“You wanna talk about it?” She asked

“Nah, I’m cool sis.” He said trying to keep in the truth that he was miserable and wanted a change.

“It’s Rea isn’t it? I know it is. I see how she is with you and I know it bothers you. She’s going through a lot and trying to make sense of everything. You know?”

Nadia was a firecracker but she had her moments when she was mellow and easy going. She was extremely intelligent and her advice was on point most of the time. Dorian wasn’t all that comfortable telling Reagan’s sister that he was tired of going through the motions with her, but he had to talk to somebody. Maybe get some perspective on the whole situation.

“Yea, I know she’s confused and hurting, but I’m in this with her and she keeps shutting me out.
